To be or not to become a blogger? That is the question.
60To be a blogger, or not to be? That is the question.
We all know that many if not most hubbers here in hubpages do hubbing to gain some extra income on the side. I am, for a fact, guilty with this. Of course, I do not always write hubs to earn money although it is not also bad to gain money while doing something that you love. Like what they say, the best “job” in the world is not having a job.
What? Am I nuts?
Well, if you truly love and enjoy what you are doing for a living, then it would really be a job right?
An earning passion. That is what we all want to have. We want to do what makes us happy and at the same time, earn that little cherry on top.
Well, what I am writing about is the fact that blogging, in my perspective, more or less, has been reduced to a mere money making tool. How?
Well, in order to become successful in making money while “blogging”, there are a lot of things involved, such as researching for a keyword to rank in, search engine optimization, affiliating, and writing niche posts or blogs. Most of the time, what happens is that someone, who wants to make money, sees a keyword with a high paying CPC and low to average advertiser competition and proceeds on to write a lens, hub, or post that is in the instructional, informational genre. Many times, we just end up researching stuff in the net and squeezing all the dug up information into a hub and slap on adsense ads along on the side.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with that. If that is what one enjoys doing, by all means, continue; Although, sometimes the quality of the writing suffers.
My only concern is that less and less online writers become real bloggers and end up as online marketing entrepreneurs.
One blogger that really stands out for me, because the quality of his writings do not suffer amidst all the internet income that his blog sends in the bank and his wallet, is Steve Pavlina of http://www.stevepavlina.com. Even though the prospect of earning money is a very tempting idea, he just writes because he wants to. He does not let money tamper the quality of his writing. Kudos to him for not letting money get in the way of his passion. He says in one of his blog posts that before he was able to sustain his family through blogging, he put in the time. The income just introduced itself on its own.
Anyway, I would like to pose a question to you guys.
To be or not to be?
